Ai Weiwei shoots film in Ukraine

He had previously traveled to Ukraine to set up an exhibition of his work, which will open in Kiev in mid-September. "Then I decided to get completely involved," Ai Weiwei continued. "I always want to know more, to challenge myself, to put myself in difficult situations." He does this in order to be able to allow himself to make a judgment. "And then, as an artist, I have to find a language for it."

He has "built up an emotional connection to Ukraine. The people here are incredibly friendly and they are willing to support you," said Ai Weiwei. That is why he decided to make the film.
