Bern street music festival Buskers focuses on local creativity

According to the organizers, 40 acts from 25 nations will perform at 25 venues in the Lower Old Town according to a program and rotation principle. There will also be 250 volunteers and 63 catering outlets. The main program consists of half musical performances and half visual performances.

A total of 138 artists invite you to join in, sprint or play along in 300 performances. They come from Bern, Biel, Lausanne and Lucerne. With Claudia Masika, David DiAlma, Michael Fehr & Rico Baumann, the "Superband", The Two, Veronikas Ndiigo, Simone Felber's Iheimisch and Hermann & die Adiletten, the festival organization has been able to engage the established and up-and-coming "crème de la crème of the Swiss music scene". There will also be numerous international acts.

Changes to the youth stage and Buskershaus

For the first time since 2007, the Youth Stage in Postgasse will no longer be run by the Junge Bühne Bern. A "young individual" from the Busker organizing committee is now programming this venue, as stated in the press release. The stage is now called "Labor Bühne" and is - nomen est omen - an experimental laboratory for "various cross-genre productions" by teenagers and young adults.

An era is also coming to an end at the "Buskershaus". This can now be found on Theaterplatz under the name "Maison Buskers". The move is a trial for the time being, as the Buskershaus has always been located in the Kornhaus since the first festival edition.

Buskers is taking place for the 22nd time this year. The artists live from hat money, the festival from the sale of wristbands. After last year's edition, the organization was disappointed with the sale of wristbands: only a third of visitors had voluntarily paid an entrance fee.
