Markus Schönholzer wins the Salzburger Stier 2026 for Switzerland. Bodo Wartke is awarded the prestigious radio prize for German-language cabaret for Germany and Vienna-based cabaret artist Sonja Pikart for Austria.
The singer-songwriter and composer Markus Schönholzer is currently on tour with his program "Die Schönholzers". His songs are touching without being sentimental and are "close to everyday life, to life", the jury explained in a statement on Wednesday.
Bodo Wartke from Germany was praised as a "chansonnier, virtuoso pianist, versatile actor and charming emcee". And the jury attested Sonja Pikart "witty and imaginative humor". She criticizes grievances without moralizing
The Salzburg Bull is endowed with 6000 euros each. The awards will be presented at the end of May 2026 in Merano, South Tyrol. The Salzburg Bull is a collaboration between the broadcasting companies of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and South Tyrol.
