Dance programs for senior citizens are growing strongly

The number of participants has risen from around 9800 in 2023 to 13,300 in 2025, Pro Senectute announced on Wednesday. The proportion of men on the dance floor is around a quarter.

In addition to traditional dance classes, formats such as line dancing, couple dancing and dance events with an event character are becoming increasingly important. "Dance events also appeal to people who don't want to attend a traditional course but want to experience dancing as a social event," Peter Burri Follath, Head of Communications at Pro Senectute Switzerland, is quoted as saying in the press release.

The organization expects the range of activities to continue to grow. Large events often lead to participants taking advantage of regular dance offers afterwards. The next national over-60s party is planned for September 12 in Zurich with the "Suisse Disco 60+".
