The call was shared by the newly founded David Lynch Foundation Switzerland. According to the foundation, it aims to continue the humanitarian work of the David Lynch Foundation, which was founded in New York in 2005, by working to make the benefits of transcendental meditation accessible to all interested people in this country.

"Let's come together wherever we are to honor his legacy by spreading peace and love in the world," wrote the four children Jennifer, Austin, Riley and Lula Lynch in their appeal on their father's Facebook page. Meditation is to take place at 9 p.m. Swiss time for 10 minutes.

Lynch meditated several times a day

Lynch had practiced transcendental meditation twice a day since 1973, the foundation wrote. Meditation had given him access to "unlimited energy, creativity and inner happiness", the filmmaker wrote on the foundation's website.

The US director became famous for the mystery TV series "Twin Peaks" and cult films such as "Wild at Heart" and "Blue Velvet". His family announced his death on January 16.
