The fact that an animated film and K-pop music work well is one of the media findings of this summer with the colorful, quirky, animated fantasy musical "KPop Demon Hunters".

The animated musical film "KPop Demon Hunters" is only the second Netflix film ever to pass the 200 million views mark. Since its release (on June 20), the film has now reached more than 210.5 million so-called views.
If the pop movie continues at this rate, it will become the most successful Netflix film next week, catching up with the action comedy "Red Notice" starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot from 2021, which once had 230.9 million views.
In its top lists - such as for "Red Notice" - the streaming service Netflix only ever refers to the first 91 online days. Netflix does not disclose longer-term viewing figures.
This means that "KPop Demon Hunters" still has until September 19 to become the most successful film. In view of the figures from the weekly charts so far, however, it is likely that this will be the case in a week's time.
The weekly chart figures since the launch of "KPop Demon Hunters":
* 6/20 to 6/22: 9.2 million views
* 23.6. to 29.6.: 24.2 million views
* 30.6. to 06.7.: 22.7 million views
* 07.7. to 13.7.: 24.2 million views
* 14.7. to 20.7.: 25.8 million views
* 21.7. to 27.7.: 26.3 million views
* 28.7. to 03.8.: 26.3 million views
* 04.8. to 10.8.: 25.9 million views
* 11.8. to 17.8.: 26.0 million views
The animated fantasy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation revolves around the K-pop girl group Huntrix (also spelled Huntr/X), consisting of Rumi, Mira and Zoey.
The three young women lead a double life as demon hunters. Suddenly they have competition from a boy band whose boys are demons.
The hype propelled the film soundtrack with K-pop earworms into hit parades worldwide. The song "Golden", which was billed as a smash hit in the movie, actually became one in reality. It also reached number one in the singles charts in Germany.
Netflix claims to have more than 300 million paying members in over 190 countries.
Weekly charts are published on Tuesday evenings, covering the streaming top 10 for films and series from the previous Monday to Sunday.
