London Grammar and Rüfüs Du Sol thrilled the audience at the Montreux Jazz Festival on Tuesday evening with spherical alternative pop and electronic power. The two trios performed one after the other on the Scène du Lac.

Despite the cool temperatures, the audience on the Place du Marché in Montreux (VD) was unimpressed. The stage built on the lake provided a picturesque backdrop with a view of the sky and sunset - fitting for the introspective soundscape of London Grammar.

The British band opened their concert with the song "Hey Now" from their debut album "If You Wait" (2013). Singer Hannah Reid impressed with her clear, hypnotic voice. When the first notes of "Nightcall" rang out, the audience reacted enthusiastically.

Reid asked for support on the last verse of "Wasting My Young Years" - due to a summer cold, as she explained. Even with a baby on tour and a weakened voice, she mastered the song with aplomb. From the current album "The Greatest Love", which was released on September 13, 2024, the band played the track "House", among others.

London Grammar were on stage in Montreux for the third time - it was the only performance of their tour in Switzerland. "I'll never forget my first time here," said Reid on stage. Keyboardist Dot Major thanked the audience in French: "Thank you very much for coming, we are very happy to be here."

With "Hell to the Liars" from the second album "Truth Is a Beautiful Thing" (2017), Reid emphasized the emotional depth of the song. The concert, which was broadcast live by blue Zoom, ended after just over an hour with "To Lose Your Head" - without an encore.
