The Way of the Cross - a picture cycle with 14 stations - was created for the 400th anniversary of the consecration of the basilica. The Fabbrica di San Pietro, which is responsible for St. Peter's Basilica, held an international competition to realize it, which Dürr won. His oil paintings are now on display during Lent.

Manuel Andreas Dürr, born in 1989, is a freelance artist from Biel. He learned his craft in Florence, among other places. He also studied art history, philosophy and Slavic studies in Bern and Fribourg.
