From Friday, the Bern Spring Fair BEA welcomes visitors with a mix of tradition, innovation and encounters. Around 900 exhibitors with their goods, a supporting program with music, shows and a fun park as well as special themes provide variety.
The fair lasts until May 3. Last year, it attracted over 330,000 visitors. One of this year's highlights is the special show Robot Worlds. The aim is to "make the future tangible", as the trade fair organizers write in a press release.
Visitors can experience, for example, how milking and feeding robots are changing agriculture or how robotic technologies are used for early pest detection in viticulture. Autonomous shopping carts, agile robot dogs and humanoid helpers are also included.
The painting and plastering industry and interior design, among others, offer an insight into creative professional worlds in construction. At interactive stands, visitors can experience materials, techniques and design options up close, get active themselves and find out about a wide range of job profiles.
The trade fair organizers pay particular attention to young people: with a specially designed school class program, the BEA offers interactive content and age-appropriate offers.
Agriculture and the animal world are further core areas of the BEA. Farriers and saddle makers will be demonstrating their craft. An elite goat show and the traditional Miss BEA competition are on the program. Finally, the festival hall is all about Bernese regional products.
