Over 40 percent of theater companies do not feel sufficiently aware of and trained in work-life balance issues. This figure is even higher among large and very large companies, as the results of the study by the "Und" specialist unit show.

According to surveys, there is a need for action in terms of work-life balance at Swiss professional theaters. The Swiss Stage Association (SBV) now wants to develop measures for improvement, as it announced on Thursday.
The evaluation of the surveys, which were carried out as part of a preliminary project by the SBV with the support of a specialist agency, shows that the topic of work-life balance is considered important to very important. More than 40 percent of theater companies do not feel sufficiently sensitized and trained on work-life balance issues, as the analysis shows.
The 50 companies that took part in the survey see the greatest benefit of a promoted work-life balance in increasing employee motivation. Of the 992 theater employees who took part in the survey, just over a third (38 percent) are somewhat or completely dissatisfied with their current life balance. No significant differences were found between the women and men surveyed, parents and those under 25 years of age without children, or between employees with and without a management function.
As the SBC announced on Thursday, it has decided to continue the project to improve work-life balance. Over the next two years, the SBC wants to "develop and implement concrete measures" with its members and the members of the umbrella organization of theaters in French-speaking Switzerland (Fédération Romande des Arts de la Scène FRAS).
