The Swiss-Italian screenwriter and director Petra Volpe will be presenting some of her films as guest of honor at the Five Lakes Film Festival. "Spring in Autumn" (2009), "Dreamland" (2014), "The Divine Order" (2017) and "Heroine" (2024) will be shown.
The latter film can currently be seen on Netflix and is her latest feature film. It is about the increasingly stressful shift of nurse Floria in the surgical department of a Swiss hospital. At the Five Lakes Film Festival, Petra Volpe is one of three guests of honor who will personally present films from different phases of her career, as the festival announced on Thursday.
Other Swiss films will also be shown at the festival in Bavaria's Fünfseenland region. These include Johanna Moder's "Mother's Baby" (2025) about a conductor's great desire to have a child. The film is in the main competition for the Five Lakes Film Prize.
The leading role is played by the German-Swiss actress Marie Leuenberger, who is also taking part in the film festival. She will also be attending the screening of Petra Volpe's "The Divine Order". In this drama, Leuenberger plays the main character Nora, a housewife who begins to campaign for the introduction of women's suffrage in Switzerland.
The Five Lakes Film Festival is dedicated to Central European film and takes place from September 9 to 16 in Fünfseenland, southwest of Munich.
