Tim Fehlbaum, Moritz Binder and co-author Alex David were nominated for the screenplay of "September 5". The film is told from the perspective of an American television team that was originally supposed to report on the Olympic Games. Instead, the journalists suddenly become live witnesses to the hostage-taking of Israeli athletes by a Palestinian terror squad.

Finally, the Oscar went to "Anora", a film about a sex worker in the USA that combines elements of romance, gangster comedy and social drama.
