These are the game highlights from Gamescom

I'm not the biggest "Call of Duty" fan. But Black Ops 7 still makes a good impression. The near future, psychological warfare and David Mason at the helm of a team familiar from previous titles. I can feel that, especially as the campaign can also be played in co-op, making the series sound more like an experience than a shooter.

What also gives me hope: no jetpack and no wall runs. Instead of sci-fi acrobatics, Treyarch promises an advanced but grounded movement variant. This could make the multiplayer more accessible for many casual gamers who don't feel like jumping around on steroids.

If TT Games really is bringing out a LEGO Batman extravaganza that retells movies like the Dark Knight trilogy in LEGO form, that makes me really curious. Reliving these iconic movie scenes in a completely new way and with typical LEGO humor sounds tempting. And maybe even with someone in co-op? A promise of a fun adventure.

I was already excited when the first "Onimusha" game was released in 2001. The action spectacle always remained a niche game and maybe that's why I'm so looking forward to the sequel. However, it won't be released until 2026.

What particularly appeals to me is that the battles feel real and more intense than expected at first glance. Timing is crucial in the fast and fluid melee combat, similar to what we know from soulslike games. One perfect blow and your opponent is in pieces - stylish, precise and cinematic.

After more than six years of waiting, this sequel opened the Gamescom Opening Night Live. A prelude that showed how great the longing for Hornet's return is. Geoff Keighley confirmed on stage that the game will be released this year, and behind him, fresh gameplay flickered across the screen.

We don't yet know the exact date. However, a separate video presentation will follow on August 21. For me, the question is not so much whether I want to play Silksong, but how quickly I will immerse myself in this beautiful but merciless world after the release. After all these years, it feels like redemption.

"Silent Hill f" makes your blood run cold. The atmosphere is simply indescribable. A must for horror fans, but by no means the only one.

What's special this time: Silent Hill leaves the American fog and relocates the nightmares to rural Japan in the 1960s. You play Hinako, a young girl who has to assert herself in a village engulfed by ghostly fog, full of disturbing plants and silenced beauty. The mix of psychological horror, Japanese folklore and survival action feels raw and fresh and will be released next month.

"Outer Worlds 2" returned to the spotlight at Gamescom and finally showed some gameplay again. The developers at Obsidian are not just conjuring up retro sci-fi satire, but this time delivering a deeper, more mature role with a satirical bite. More weapons, more action, more wacky corporate politics in space.

Why am I looking forward to it? Simple. I'm all about post-apocalyptic capitalist madness in space and I love it when my decisions have real consequences, whether it's capturing rifts in space-time or advancing faction intrigue.

My hardcore "World of Warcraft" days were a few years ago. But Midnight looks so tempting that I can well imagine bringing my dusty night elf back to life.

We return to Quel'Thalas, where the Void threatens the Sunwell. A story that not only sounds dark, but emotionally memorable. The possibility of reuniting elven peoples while fighting a morally ambivalent threat makes me really curious.

And then there's the housing feature. Something that players have been asking for for 20 years and is now finally becoming a reality. Hopefully as well implemented as the anticipation is.

And even more horror. In addition to "Silent Hill f", the latest installment in the Resident Evil series is also eagerly awaited by fans.

This time, Capcom is focusing on atmospheric density rather than action bombs. You play Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst back in Raccoon City, 30 years after the disaster. The game allows spontaneous changes of perspective between first and third person, intersperses path tracing and DLSS 4 and brings light and shadow into play. In the style of a true horror experience.

And at the very end of the Opening Night Live, all fans of soulslike games will have something to look forward to. Because "Black Myth: Wukong" is getting a successor. The name was legally secured some time ago. The first video footage has now been released and we can assume that the sequel will win a few more awards, just like "Wukong".
