Marius Lindvik was celebrated as world champion in front of his home crowd. Silver and bronze went to Germany's Andreas Wellinger and Austria's Jan Hörl.

The Lucerne native first showed a fine jump of 102.5 meters. However, the 34-year-old lost half of the gap to the best not with the flight distance, but with the style marks. On landing, the Lucerne native cut his left ski. In the recapitulation, neither was good: distance (99.5 m) and landing. As a result, he dropped from 9th intermediate place to midfield.

Deschwanden was also the only Swiss to take off in the final round. Simon Ammann's transition into the flight was not perfect. The flight itself was then okay. But the 43-year-old no longer has enough power in his take-off to compensate for such imperfections.

Killian Peier, who came fourth in the qualification, had a jump to forget. First he had to jump from the beam back onto the stairs. When the conditions had calmed down, he jumped fully on the attack, which went badly wrong. The Frenchman threw his hands away on the way out. Yannick Wasser in 36th place showed a better performance than Peier (41st) and Ammann (42nd). However, his performance of 97 m was not enough for the final.

Despite concerns, the windy conditions allowed for a fair competition. With a constant updraft, the athletes made full use of the hill. Lindvik first raised the hill record to 108 m and showed no weaknesses in his second flight either. Wellinger and Hörl were already in second and third place after the first round.

Daniel Tschofenig, the winner of the Four Hills Tournament, did not get up to speed. It had already become apparent in training that the Austrian was weakening on the small bakken in Trondheim.
