On the flat course in the Aosta Valley, the 29-year-old was only beaten by Sweden's Maja Dahlqvist. Nadine Fähndrich finished on the World Cup podium as an individual skier for the third time this winter.

The Swiss team leader likes the destination of Cogne. In February 2019, she achieved the first podium finish of her career with second place in a 10 km race using the classic technique. Six years later, she achieved this for the 13th time - five victories and four second and third places each.

The Swiss skier ran tactically flawless. First of all, she saved energy on Friday by not taking part in the team sprint. In the knockout heats, she concentrated on the final phase, in which she hardly had to fear any of her rivals with her powerful double pole kicks.

Anja Weber advanced to the semi-finals. She missed out on a place in the final in a photo finish. Things did not go according to plan for the Swiss men. Valerio Grond and Janik Riebli were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Even without Johannes Hösflot Klaebo, the Norwegians, led by Erik Valnes, managed a triple victory.
