Olympic silver medallist Fanny Smith misses out on the podium at the World Cup dernière in Gällivare and finishes fourth. The Vaud native therefore also misses out on the podium in the overall World Cup rankings.

The Swiss skier was initially well on course in the final before she lost speed in the battle for second place behind Sandra Näslund and was passed by. For her part, the Swede reached another career milestone with her 50th World Cup victory. France's Marielle Berger Sabbatel finished her career in second place, with third place going to Olympic champion Daniela Maier.

Isabelle Zippert equaled her career-best result at the end of her first World Cup season with 5th place. Her competitors in the small final, including Saskja Lack, were all involved in a crash.

Romain Détraz and Jonas Lenherr were denied an exploit in their last World Cup races. The 32-year-old was eliminated in the round of 16, while the 37-year-old's career ended in the quarter-finals. The man from Vaud and the man from St. Gallen had announced their retirement during the week after one and five World Cup victories respectively. The quarter-finals were also the end of the line for all the other Swiss men.

Italy's Simone Deromedis celebrated his victory.
