Two weeks after her second podium finish at this level in Zagreb, Switzerland's Binta Ndiaye finished 5th at the Judo Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi.
The 21-year-old from Vaud won her first round, but then missed out on the medals in Abu Dhabi with defeats in the semi-final against Huh Mimi from South Korea and in the repechage against Spain's Marta Garcia Martin.
In Abu Dhabi, the Russian judokas competed for the first time under the Russian flag and with the three letters "RUS" on their backs. On Thursday, the International Judo Federation unconditionally admitted Russian athletes for the first time since 2022.
