Aeschbacher's reserves of strength will be revealed in the very first fight. The runner-up in the Oberaargau competition and final round participant at the federal competition in Pratteln will face Mario Schneider from north-eastern Switzerland in the first round. While the man from Bern is still waiting for his first wreath victory of the season, Schneider won the Appenzell cantonal festival in Hundwil. The two-time winner of the season, Walther, is teaming up with his association colleague Thomas Sempach.
The other top pairings in the first round are as follows: Christian Gerber against Patrick Gobeli, Patrick Schenk against Florian Gnägi and Konrad Steffen against Michael Ledermann.
The Emmental is the second of three wrestling festivals in Burgdorf within eleven days. The Bernese Cantonal will conclude on August 11.
