Alessandra Keller makes a successful start to the new season. The Swiss short track world champion wins the Cape Epic mountain bike stage race in South Africa with local Candice Lill.
The Swiss-South African duo won seven of the eight stages of the "Tour de France of mountain biking". After 707 km and an altitude difference of 15,900 m, 30-year-old Keller and four-year-old Lill had a lead of almost 53 minutes over their closest rivals.
Keller's first start in the prestigious stage race resulted in victory. For her teammate Lill, it was her first victory in her tenth attempt after five previous 2nd places.
In the men's race, last year's Swiss winners, the retired Nino Schurter and Filippo Colombo, were not at the start.
You can watch the final stage (The Grand Final) on Monday evening at 8pm on blue Zoom.
