Alex Marquez secures his second win of the season in this format in the sprint race of the Portuguese GP in the MotoGP class. The Spaniard keeps his compatriot Pedro Acosta at bay in Portimão.
Marquez decided the race with his overtaking maneuver on the fourth-last of twelve laps and did not let Acosta get any closer after that. Third place went to the Italian Marco Bezzecchi.
The 29-year-old Catalan Alex Marquez cemented second place in the world championship standings in the absence of his older brother Marc Marquez, who had already been crowned world champion. After finishing 2nd in the sprint in Malaysia, this was no longer in his grasp.
