Lea Meier continues to impress in the biathlon arena in Antholz. After a strong 7th place in the individual race, the Grisons native also finished 13th in the sprint, making her the best Swiss athlete. The 24-year-old cleared all ten targets. She will be the first skier in Swiss kit to start the pursuit on Sunday. She is 1:16 minutes behind Maren Kirkeeide and just under a minute off the podium.

Amy Baserga and Aita Gasparin each had one penalty, Lena Häcki-Gross four. However, with rankings of 29th, 55th and 60th, there won't be much of a difference in Sunday's pursuit.

Gold and silver went to two young athletes that few had expected. Maren Kirkeeide had failed in her first two appearances at the Olympic Games. Now she set a best time on the snow and hit all the targets. At the finish, her lead over Océane Michelon was 3.8 seconds. The Frenchwoman was not included in either the mixed relay or the individual event. Bronze went to her compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot. Julia Simon, who took gold after the first two races, had to make do with 34th place this time, almost two minutes behind.
