Ambri-Piotta also wins the fourth and last duel of the qualification with Davos. The 2-0 away win in Wednesday's only NL game gives Ambri some breathing space in the race for the play-in.

For Davos, it was a day to forget. Before the game, the Grisons had to announce the loss of Enzo Corvi for the rest of the season, in the middle third goalie Sandro Aeschlimann was out with a thumb injury and finally the defeat missed an opportunity to get closer to the top 4 in the table.

The defeat was well deserved. Ambri-Piotta had the game well under control for most of the time. Shortly after Aeschlimann went down with an injury, Manix Landry deflected the puck past new HCD goalie Luca Hollenstein with his thigh. Tim Heed made it 2:0 on the power play at the start of the final period.

Chris DiDomenico, who had returned to the Ambri team after serving two suspensions, did not score but was the center of attention because it was he who unfortunately hit Aeschlimann on the hand with his stick in the 24th minute. The Grisons goalie received treatment in the dressing room and later returned to the bench with a splint on his thumb.

It was a little too late for the Davos team to inject some emotion into the game in their sold-out stadium. They came close to making it 1:2 on two power plays towards the middle of the final period. In the end, however, they lost to Ambri for the second time in a row without scoring a goal and the fifth in a row in front of their own crowd.
