Ambri-Piotta extends the contract with coach Jussi Tapola by three seasons. In addition, the Leventines sign Czech center Petr Kodytek for the next two seasons.
One day after parting ways with top scorer Chris DiDomenico, the Ticino club announced that it can count on Tapola, who signed at the end of January, for the long term. The 51-year-old, who won the Finnish championship four times with Tappara Tampere and triumphed in the Champions Hockey League in 2023, is a perfect fit for the sporting project. "The aim is to once again become an attractive destination for young talents and to once again act as a training club - with continuously growing sporting ambitions," reads the statement from the National League's second-last team in the table.
Ambri-Piotta has hired Petr Kodytek, an experienced forward who played the last three seasons in Finland, to fill the vacant foreigner position. The 27-year-old scored 104 points in 165 games for Ilves and HIFK. He has played 57 international games for the Czech national team (20 points).
