Ambri-Piotta wins the first leg of the play-in against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. Coach Luca Cereda's team wins 2:1.
The away team won each of the four meetings in the qualifiers. The Lakers have thus celebrated two of their only six victories on home ice against the Leventines. This series came to an end in the first game of the play-in. Inti Pestoni gave Ambri the lead after just 134 seconds in front of a crowd of 6,640. Although defenceman Inaki Baragano equalized for the visitors in the 42nd minute, Rapperswil then had no answer to André Heim's 2:1 (55').
It was not a game that knocked you off your feet; it was clear that the season was over for the loser of this duel. Both teams acted cautiously. The Lakers shot on goal more often - the shot ratio was 29:21 in their favor. However, they did not create many good chances, which was also the case for Ambri.
Rapperswil had to play without their top scorer Malte Strömwall, who was ill. And because the injured Victor Rask was also missing, they started with only five foreigners. The second leg will take place on Thursday.
