Johannes Hösflot Klaebo's dominance of the Tour de Ski at the turn of the year comes to an end on New Year's Eve. The Norwegian will be overtaken by compatriot Harald Östberg Amundsen.

Klaebo, the winner of the first two stages, lost 46 seconds to the World Cup leader Amundsen in the 20 km skating race with individual start in Toblach. His lead in the overall standings dwindled to 16 seconds. The two are therefore likely to join forces in the 15 km classic pursuit on New Year's Day. Because if they work together, they can keep the first chasers, who are already almost a minute behind, at bay. The overall victory will then be decided between the two of them in the three stages in Val di Fiemme.

The Norwegians dominated the day's classification with five skiers in the top six. The best Swiss finishers were Jason Rüesch (21st / 1:29 behind) and Beda Klee (29th / 1:50 behind). In the overall classification, this results in 18th (Rüesch) and 27th (Klee).

Beda Klee shone last winter with fifth place overall in the Tour de Ski. He is currently 1:20 minutes away from such a ranking.
