Alessandra Keller finishes on the World Cup podium in cross-country for the second time this season
Keystone
After the season premiere in Pal Arinsal, Alessandra Keller also makes it onto the cross-country podium in Les Gets. The Swiss rider finishes second in the World Cup dress rehearsal.
In the final lap, Keller fought a duel with New Zealander Samara Maxwell and proved to have the longer breath. As the Swede Jenny Rissveds had ridden a lonely race at the front, the podium order in the cross-country was the same as two days earlier in the short track.
It was Keller's second podium finish in the seventh cross-country race of the season. The 29-year-old from Nidwalden had already secured second place a month ago in Andorra. After a somewhat difficult start to the season, her form is clearly on the up.
Jolanda Neff, who finished ninth, was another Swiss rider in the top 10, while Ginia Caluori, Nicole Koller and Sina Frei finished 12th to 14th.
The Mountain Bike World Championships are now coming up in Valais. The women's (Saturday, September 13) and men's (Sunday, September 14) cross-country races will take place in Crans-Montana. One week later, the World Cup stops in Lenzerheide before the last two races of the season are held in North America in October.
