Lim Sihyeon sets a world record in archery with 694 points in the individual recurve.
Even before the official opening ceremony, the first world record has been broken at the Olympic Games in Paris. South Korean archer Lim Sihyeon broke the individual recurve record with 694 points, beating the performance of her compatriot Chaeyoung Kang, who had held the world record since June 2019, by two points.
Lim Sihyeon even beat the previous Olympic record, set by another Korean, San An, in Tokyo 2021, by 14 points.
Thursday's placement round for the female archers was all about qualifying for the knockout phase, which begins in the first week of the Olympics.
