The New Jersey Devils come away with a narrow away win in the NHL. The team with the Swiss trio wins 2:1 after overtime against the Calgary Flames.
Jonas Siegenthaler was at the origin of the Devils' first lead in the Saddledome. The Zurich-based defenseman was one of the players who set up the 1-0 goal by Canadian Dawson Mercer in the second period. It was Siegenthaler's sixth assist of the season.
The advantage did not last long. Just under two minutes later, Mercer's compatriot Nazem Kadri equalized for the Flames. Simon Nemec, a defenseman colleague of Siegenthaler, decided the game. The Slovakian scored 78 seconds into overtime to give his team their third win in the last four games. Nico Hischier and Timo Meier were not involved in either of the Devils' goals.
The Winnipeg Jets were beaten 2-0 in the basement duel in Chicago. The team with Nino Niederreiter remains in second-last place in the league standings, while the Blackhawks moved up one place to fourth-last thanks to their first win after three defeats.
For the Vegas Golden Knights, a lengthy period of unbeaten streaks came to an end. The team from Paradise, Nevada, without goalkeeper Akira Schmid, lost 2-1 at home to the Philadelphia Flyers to end a seven-game losing streak. The visitors, for their part, had recently lost six in a row.
