Marc Marquez suffers his first setback in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. The Spaniard crashes while leading the US GP in Austin, clearing the way for Francesco Bagnaia.
Marc Marquez, who had been perfect since his debut on a Ducati with two wins in two Grands Prix and three victories in just as many sprints, crashed before the halfway point of the race. As the unchallenged leader, the six-time MotoGP World Champion hit the still-wet track barrier with his front wheel and slid off.
His works colleague Bagnaia benefited from the mishap. The Italian celebrated his 30th victory in the premier class and his 40th overall in the world championship. The 28-year-old won with a lead of two seconds over Alex Marquez and the Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Marc Marquez, who rode a few more laps, had to relinquish the lead in the championship. However, with 86 points, he is only just behind his younger brother Alex.
