Francesco Bagnaia wins for the fourth time in a row in the MotoGP. At the Sachsenring, the Italian world champion benefited from a crash by Jorge Martin on the penultimate lap.
While leading the race, Saturday's sprint winner put his bike into the gravel in a right-hand bend and thus recklessly missed out on victory at the German GP. The podium was completed by brothers Marc and Alex Marquez. The older of the two crowned his recovery and rode from 13th on the grid to 2nd place.
Bagnaia not only inherited first place, but also took the lead in the overall world championship standings with his sixth win of the season. He is now ten points ahead of the Spaniard Martin. It was Bagnaia's 34th GP victory, his 24th in the premier class.
Dettwiler in 23rd place after a crash
In the Moto3 class, the Spaniard David Alonso won, extending his lead in the overall standings. Noah Dettwiler finished in 23rd place after a crash. 19-year-old Dettwiler from Basel missed out on a top 15 finish by 43 seconds. So far, Dettwiler has only scored once in nine races this season. That was in mid-April in Austin, Texas, when he finished 14th.
