Visp's championship coach Heinz Ehlers will not be returning to his home country after all. The 59-year-old Dane will be assistant coach to head coach Eric Himelfarb at EHC Basel next season.

Ehlers was most recently head coach at EHC Visp for two years and led the team from Upper Valais to the Swiss League championship title this season. Visp beat Basel in the play-off final of Switzerland's second-highest ice hockey league.
In Basel, Ehlers will meet up with an old acquaintance, sports director Kevin Schläpfer. It was Schläpfer who brought Ehlers to Switzerland as head coach of EHC Biel in 2007. Ehlers later also worked as a coach in Langenthal, Lausanne and Langnau.
