Those responsible at the Haas Formula 1 team have found a replacement for Kevin Magnussen, who has been banned from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Englishman Oliver Bearman is deployed.

Bearman is the logical choice. The 19-year-old talent will be one of the American racing team's two regular drivers from the coming season. Two months ago, he signed a contract valid for several years.

Bearman, normally employed in Formula 2, has already stood in as a substitute driver in Formula 1. At the beginning of March in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, he stood in for Carlos Sainz at Scuderia Ferrari and impressed with 7th place. The Spaniard had had to withdraw from the race following an appendectomy.

The ban against Magnussen is based on the penalty catalog. Last Sunday in the Italian Grand Prix, the northerner had collected two more penalty points for an incident with Frenchman Pierre Gasly in the Alpine. This brought the total over the past twelve months to twelve penalty points, which according to the regulations results in a ban for one race weekend.
