Hope of reaching the playoffs after all has returned to the Bern Ice Skating Club. After falling behind, the SCB celebrates a 5-2 home win against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.
Bern had previously lost four home games in a row. In the second period, however, SCB responded with vehemence to the 0:1 deficit at the first break. Bern turned 0:1 into 3:1 within just over seven minutes, overrunning the Lakers. They also hit the post and crossbar in the first half of the second period.
Bern is in desperate need of points. Even after the home win over the Lakers, the team from the city of Bern is still only in 12th place, 15 points behind direct playoff qualification.
The lead of leaders HC Davos over their closest rivals Lausanne is almost as significant - 13 points. However, Davos conceded their fourth defeat of the season - and their third in the last four rounds - in the thrilling top-of-the-table game in Fribourg after leading 2:0. Gottéron found victory thanks to four goals in the final period.
Lausanne scraped to a 3-2 win against Ajoie after overtime. The other games resulted in wins for the favorites ZSC Lions in Biel (2-0), Zug at home against Ambri-Piotta (4-2 after trailing 2-0) and Lugano in Kloten (2-1).
