Lian Bichsel celebrates a resounding victory with the Dallas Stars in the only NHL game on Wednesday night. The team with the defenseman from Solothurn swept the Edmonton Oilers 8-3 on the road.
The duel with the Stanley Cup finalists of the last two seasons was decided early on. The Stars led 4-0 at the first intermission and 6-1 after two periods. Four of their first eight shots found their way into the opposing goal.
Nathan Bastian was the game's only double-goal scorer. Although Lian Bichsel did not score, he impressed with his physicality and handed out the most checks (3) of his team. The 21-year-old Swiss also got into a fight with Adam Henrique in the middle third.
While Dallas consolidated its 2nd place in the Western Conference with its 14th win in the 23rd game of the season, Edmonton is still not really getting into its stride. The Canadians with superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl currently have a record of 10 wins and 15 defeats and are therefore outside the play-off places in the West.
