Former national team player Urs Bärtschi passed away last Wednesday at the age of 68. This was announced by the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation.
Bärtschi made 91 appearances for the national team between 1981 and 1986. His club career took the native of Adelboden from Arosa via Kloten to Biel, where he celebrated his greatest successes. He became Swiss champion with the Seelanders in 1981 and 1983; he led the team as captain when they won the second title.
Bärtschi ended his playing career at the age of 36 and continued to play ice hockey in various roles, including as a coach and assistant.
