Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré go into the last 16 of the Olympic tournament unbeaten. They won their third group match against Giuliana Poletti and Michelle Valiente from Paraguay.
The task against the outsiders was not quite as easy as had been expected. After defeating the Latvians Tina Graudina/Anastasia Samoilova and the Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes/Brandie Wilkerson, the players from Lucerne and Bern struggled to overcome the South Americans 23:21, 18:21, 15:12.
As the first-placed team in their group, Böbner/Vergé-Dépré will face one of the third-placed teams in the first knockout round.
The second Swiss duo Nina Hüberli/Tanja Brunner, who also won their first two matches, will conclude the preliminary round in the afternoon with a match against France's Lézana Placette/Alexia Richard.
