Brilliant performances from Audrey Werro and Géraldine Frey

The 800 m runner Audrey Werro (CA Belfaux) competed in the 400 m at her home meeting in the St-Léonard athletics stadium and was faster than ever before. The 21-year-old from Fribourg showed an unleashed run, winning in 51.03 seconds and improving Giulia Senn's Swiss U23 record by 75 hundredths. The U23 European champion was rightly celebrated by the enthusiastic crowd for this exploit. Lea Sprunger (Swiss record 50.52) is the only Swiss woman ever to have run the track lap faster.

The second highlight of the evening from a Swiss perspective was the women's 100 m final, which was won by Géraldine Frey (LK Zug) in 11.09 seconds. After 11.17 seconds in the preliminary heat, the 28-year-old from Zug set a personal best for the second time in an hour and a half. In the all-time Swiss best list, she is now number 4 behind Mujinga Kambundji (10.89), Ajla Del Ponte (10.90) and Salomé Kora (10.95).
