Sébastien Buemi clearly misses out on his fifth title win in the World Endurance Championship after 2014, 2019, 2022 and 2023. In Bahrain, he at least celebrates a conciliatory end to the season with second place.
In the final 8-hour race in Sakhir, the 37-year-old driver from Vaud and his Toyota team-mates Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa were only beaten by the other Toyota of Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway and Nyck de Vries.
James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi secured the drivers' title in the Ferrari. Fourth place in Bahrain was enough for the trio to triumph. The iconic brand from Maranello also came out on top in the constructors' championship. The last time Ferrari won the World Sports Car Championship was 53 years ago.
