HC Ambri-Piotta changes its coach once again. Jussi Tapola succeeds the Canadian Eric Landry. The agreement with the Finn is valid until the end of the season.
After the big scandal at the beginning of October last year, when coach Luca Cereda and sporting director Paolo Duca resigned, the Ticino team had placed their trust in Landry and his compatriot René Matte as assistants until the end of the current championship. Cereda and Duca had resigned after it became public that president Filippo Lombardi had met with Christian Dubé to discuss a possible successor. Lombardi also resigned in the wake of the turmoil.
Tapola had worked at SC Bern until the beginning of October. In his third season at the club from the capital, he was forced to resign due to the team's mostly disappointing results. Along with Tapola, Ambri-Piotta also signed his assistant Pasi Puistola.
Ambri-Piotta is currently in second-last place in the National League standings.
