Connor McDavid will remain with the Edmonton Oilers after signing a contract extension for the NHL season that starts on Tuesday.
As the Oilers announced on Monday, they have extended the 28-year-old captain's contract, which runs until 2026, by two more years.
McDavid has played for the playoff finalists of the last two seasons since 2015. According to the Canadian franchise, the Canadian superstar receives an average annual salary of 12.5 million dollars.
For Edmonton, who are aiming to win their first Stanley Cup since 1990, the new season begins on Thursday night with a home game against the Calgary Flames.
