For Lian Bichsel and the Dallas Stars, the NHL playoffs are already over after the first round. The team from Texas lost 2:5 against the Minnesota Wild, losing the series 2:4.
The game in Saint Paul, Minnesota, was very reminiscent of the course of the series: After falling behind, Dallas fought back and took a 2:1 lead. After that, however, only Minnesota scored.
Quinn Hughes was the match-winner with two goals and an assist, while Matthew Boldy sealed the decision with two goals into the empty net. On the Stars' side, Solothurn defenseman Lian Bichsel got just under 14 minutes of ice time.
For the Wild, the win means they have made it to the second playoff round for the first time since 2015, while Dallas, after three semi-final appearances in the past three years, has to bow out after the first round this time.
Due to the early end to the season, Bichsel would theoretically be available for the Swiss national team at the home World Championships from May 15. However, a nomination is still out of the question: National coach Jan Cadieux had recently made it clear that the association's internal decision against the 21-year-old remains in place. This decision had been made after Bichsel once failed to accept a call-up for the U20 national team.
