Dario Caviezel, who defeated his compatriot Gian Casanova in the round of 16, was beaten by Italy's Roland Fischnaller by 0.47 seconds in the parallel giant slalom one lap later.

Flurina Bätschi and Julie Zogg made it through to the last 16 in the women's event.

Biathlon

Two days after the sprint race, Tommaso Giacomel also wins the pursuit race at the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof. The Italian took his fifth World Cup victory despite six penalties, just ahead of Martin Uldal (4.5 seconds behind). The Norwegian still had a lead of almost 40 seconds over the first chaser before the last shooting, while Giacomel was more than a minute behind Uldal at this point.

Niklas Hartweg, 26th in the sprint, improved to 19th place on Saturday. The 25-year-old made three mistakes at the shooting range.

Ski jumping

Sina Arnet achieved the third-best result of her career at the World Cup jumping event in Ljubno. The 20-year-old from Obwalden improved by six positions to 19th place in the second round on the normal hill in Slovenia. Victory went to the local high-flyer Nika Prevc, who won the World Cup for the 30th time.

Sled

Natalie Maag finished 8th in the World Cup in Winterberg. The woman from the Zurich Oberland region lost around three tenths of a place on the podium in the single-seater. Hannah Prock from Austria, who had already triumphed in Winterberg at the beginning of December, secured victory. Germany's Julia Taubitz and Italy's Verena Hofer completed the podium.
