The two-time U23 World Champion and daughter of multiple Olympic medal winner Martin Annen learned the hard way in the challenging ice track in the US state of New York. With 20 bends, the track has more than any other, and Annen has completed significantly fewer runs on it than most of her competitors. The nominal Swiss number 1 Melanie Hasler was not at the start due to a flu-like infection and fever.

Annen lost almost two and a half seconds to the winner Kaysha Love from the USA. Second place went to Laura Nolte from Germany, who missed out on the title hat-trick by 44 hundredths.
