Julie Derron makes it onto the podium for the second time at the third stop of the T100 World Tour. The Olympic silver medallist from Paris 2024 finished second in Toronto behind American Taylor Knibb.
Derron rolled up the field from behind in Toronto. After the swim, the Zurich native switched to the bike in ninth place, where she lost a further three and a half minutes to Knibb. Derron was then clearly the fastest on the run.
Only the German Daniela Kleiser was less than two and a half minutes slower on foot. Derron made up more than three and a half minutes on the winner. Nevertheless, she was still more than two minutes away from second place in the end.
At the start of the season in Singapore at the beginning of April, Derron had to settle for 12th place. She now leads the overall standings after three of eight stages thanks to her victory in San Francisco and second place in Canada.
