EV Zug surprised the Swedish champions Lulea with a 3:2 win after overtime. The visitors' winning goal was scored by a Swede of all people, Zug's stand-in captain Lukas Bengtsson (Jan Kovar was absent due to convalescence).

EVZ led 2:1 until the 47th minute after goals from Lino Martschini and newcomer Tomas Tatar, contrary to the course of the game, and should not have complained about winning a point. Swiss national goalie Leonardo Genoni kept his team in the game on his 38th birthday with numerous strong saves and thus enabled Michael Liniger to make a winning debut as head coach.
