Australian Michael Matthews wins the Grand Prix de Québec for the third time after 2018 and 2019.
The 33-year-old, who took his seventh podium finish on this route, held off Eritrean rider Biniam Girmay on the uphill finishing straight after around 200 km.
Earlier in the World Tour race, all eyes were on Tadej Pogacar. In his first race since winning the Tour de France, the Slovenian launched an attack at the foot of the kilometer-long final climb, but was unable to get through. Pogacar, who is preparing for the World Championships in Zurich, will have another opportunity to shine in Montreal on Sunday.
