Remco Evenepoel was once considered a child prodigy. With his victory in the Olympic time trial, the 24-year-old Belgian achieved something historic in Paris. He even surpasses Fabian Cancellara.

Remco Evenepoel set another milestone with his victory in the Olympic time trial in Paris. The 24-year-old Belgian is thus the first professional cyclist to win a time trial at all three major national tours (Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España) at the World Championships and at the Olympic Games.

Although Fabian Cancellara was twice Olympic champion and four times world champion in the discipline against the clock, the Bernese rider, who retired in 2016, was "only" successful in Grand Tours at the Tour of France and the Tour of Spain. A stage win at the Giro eluded him in three participations.
