Fabian Bösch announces his retirement. The Swiss freeskier is turning his back on top-class sport after the current season.

With the 28-year-old Bösch, one of the most successful representatives of his sport is retiring. The man from Engelberg has been one of the defining figures in the international freeski circus for more than ten years - both in slopestyle and big air.

Bösch achieved his greatest successes at world championships. Eleven years ago, he won gold in slopestyle in Kreischberg in Styria, followed by gold in big air four winters later in Park City, Utah. He never managed to win in the World Cup; his best results to date include four second and third places.

Bösch has also set milestones on the biggest stage in freestyle sport, the X Games. Ten years ago, he won gold in the Big Air in Aspen, Colorado, and a month later he took silver at the X Games in Oslo.

"Now my full focus is on the Laax Open and qualifying for the Olympic Games," says Bösch. A World Cup competition in slopestyle is on the program at the Grisons resort on Saturday. He will provide information about his future outside of competitive sport in the spring.
