It has been clear for a few days now that the Kings and Oilers, the Pacific Division's No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, will meet in the opening game of the knockout phase. In Tuesday night's game, Los Angeles secured second place two rounds before the end of the regular season.

Fiala, twice a two-goal scorer of late, was once again in dazzling form. The St. Gallen native scored his 35th goal and caught up with Nico Hischier in the ranking of Swiss NHL goal scorers. Fiala also recorded an assist and is now on 58 points in the scoring charts. With 67 points (35 goals, 32 assists), Hischier from Valais still has a clear advantage in this ranking.

Lian Bichsel also scored a goal. The Dallas Stars defenseman scored for the fourth time this season, but was unable to prevent his team from losing 6-4 to the Detroit Red Wings. The Dallas Stars need to improve with a view to the playoffs. They suffered their sixth defeat in a row.
