Kevin Fiala is closing in on Nico Hischier again in the battle for the most successful Swiss NHL goal scorer this season.
The St. Gallen native scored two power play goals in the Los Angeles Kings' 6:1 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Fiala now has 32 goals, while Hischier has scored 35 times. Fiala has three more appearances before the playoffs, Hischier four. The duel will also continue in the knockout rounds.
After seven games without a goal, Nino Niederreiter was able to celebrate scoring again. The Grisons native scored his 16th goal of the season in the Winnipeg Jets' 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars.
Niederreiter thus emerged victorious in the Swiss duel against Lian Bichsel, and the Winnipeg Jets secured first place in the regular season in the top game of the Western Conference. The Dallas Stars have now lost for the fourth time in a row and need to find their feet again with a view to the playoffs.
Pius Suter won 4:1 with the Vancouver Canucks against the Colorado Avalanche. The win was necessary to keep at least a theoretical chance of making the playoffs open.
Philipp Kurashev was involved in the Chicago Blackhawks' 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins with an assist. The Nashville Predators managed their second win in a row without their injured captain Roman Josi (4:3 n.p. against Utah). The four teams all miss the playoffs.
